ResponsibilitiesWe are actively seeking a mid-level Satellite Communications (SATCOM) Engineering Technician to join our team at the Blossom Point Ground Terminal near La Plata, MD.
As a member of the site technician staff, the candidate will be responsible for operations and maintenance of the Blossom Point Remote Station (BPRS).
Youll assist in the planning, scheduling, and overseeing all maintenance, preventive maintenance; engineering change work and software/firmware upgrade activities in a Satellite Ground Station environment.
This position will be responsible for:
Performs routine, non-routine and complex assignments involving Ground Communications Equipment (GCE) systems related to daily-shift operations and maintenance activities in support of spacecraft operations.
Experienced with radio communications and digital signal processing systems, telemetry monitor and control systems as well as knowledge of IT network architecture, network protocol standards (TCP, UDP, IP) and computer architecture and operating systems.
Must be able to thrive in a 24hr - rotating shift environment at BPRS.
Assists Site Engineer and Site Management by seeking guidance for mission support activities, equipment requirements, and advice from senior satcom engineers as needed.
Will be performing recurring work independently or in teams; work is reviewed for technical adequacy or conformity with instructions.
Assists senior techs to coordinate, oversee and conduct operational system adjustments, preventive, and corrective maintenance actions, and evaluates equipment performance, meticulously documenting all aforementioned actions.
Monitors technical and professional performance of systems and acts quickly to correct deficiencies.
Reports to and advises BPRS management on all related operational and technical matters.
Identifies and troubleshoots system problems, conducts tests using specialized instrumentation and test equipment, analyzes results to restore systems, and documents and reports results.
Assist with COMSEC account management.
Implements and ensures adherence to operational, maintenance and organizational procedures and policies.
Ensures secure and positive control of critical resources.
Reviews, edits, and recommends changes to technical and process documentation.
QualificationsRequired QualificationsAssociate's Degree (or equivalent) and 4
years related experienceYouve spent 2-5 years working in operations & maintenance of a strategic satellite communications site.
Youve spent 1-3 years experience with Windows, Linux, and Remedy.
Know how to use Microsoft Administrative Products and tools.
Security Clearance - this position requires the candidate to have a current Secret or Interim Secret security clearance and be able to maintain the clearance thereafter.
Desired QualificationsKnowledge of NASA SN and TDRS operations and maintenance is a plus.
Possess a broad detailed knowledge of electronics.
Experience in network administration (Network+, Security
or other IT certifications is a plus).

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
